ACTION WITH ROSE FOR INSTRUCTION / INSTRUCTION FOR AN ACTION WITH ROSE

A walking performance created for ‘INTERFERENCE’ at the Annex Gallery. The exhibition focused upon of score or instruction as methods for art making with a sister exhibition occurring at California College of the arts, where scores from each were exchanged and artworks made form the scores of other artists, as well as creating work from your own.

Utilising the gallery space as not the site of the performance, but as a vessel in which to accumulate traces or ephemera or detritus, engaging upon gesture and endurance to focus upon the skin and body as an inconsistent and permeable site, one of effluvia and variable density. Of pain, endurance, allure and a contaminated and contaminating presence.
